Our Facilities

Our preschool is filled with many stimulating opportunities. The activities are all designed to provide for the natural development of basic skills that a child needs for school and the wider social world. Click to view our slideshow.

Riviera United Methodist Preschool (R.U.M.P.) facilities include:

Outside Play Yard
Equipped with extensive play structures, slides, tricycles and sandbox. Different activities are available to challenge the children at various progressions of their physical development. An outside paint area is usually set up with easels/paint monitored by a parent. Water play areas are also set up on a rotating basis.

Front Room
A large multipurpose room that has the flexibility to accommodate the activity centers of the day (science projects, building blocks, puzzles, large toys, musical instruments, play dough) and also reflect the overall theme of the curriculum: e.g. a space station, during Outer Space Week. This room also accommodates the play kitchen where the preschoolers enjoy preparing pretend food; a dramatic play area with capes, helmets, aprons, ballerina/princess dress up costumes and other accessories to stimulate creativity in pretend play; and a book shelf filled with fun books to encourage young readers. We use the rug area for story time, songs, share time, etc.

Craft Room
Daily craft projects are designed to help children explore their creativity and learn about the world around them through art. Projects and independent art activities use diverse mediums, textures, shapes and a range of materials to maximize both fun and learning. The use of pencils, brushes and scissors also help to develop fine motor skills.

Library
A lending library is stocked with lots of children's titles and a section is set aside for accumulating parent resources.

Nursery
The nursery is FREE and available for younger siblings whose parents are working in the classroom. Two parents are scheduled in the nursery - with a maximum of 5 children - as part of the normal rotation for working in the classroom. The nursery facility is provided by Riviera United Methodist Church.
